Willow Sports Field, Townsville

Abyss completed the demolition of the NRL North Queensland Cowboys’ ex-home stadium, consisting of 4 large grandstands, 3-storey main club building and gymnasium. The stadium on Golf Links Dr Kirwan was formerly known as Stockland Stadium, The Willows, Malanda Stadium, Dairy Farmers Stadium, 1300SMILES Stadium, and finally Willow Sports Complex. A venue that hosted a crowd of more than 30,000 punters at capacity. Works were completed over 9 months with June 2023 seeing a clear site and over 1700 tonnes of scrap steel sent for recycling and repurposing.
