Demolition of the Plant’s Digester and Thickeners

This demolition project included demolition of the sewage treatment plant’s Digester and Thickeners, which is part of the processing plant that allows bio solids to breakdown and solidify.

Abyss’s task was demolition of the partially below ground reservoir that serves as the Digester, demolishing the walls to 1.0m below ground level, with a neat saw cut finish. Surrounding slabs, pump station and sludge box were removed in their entirety. as well as the Thickener Reservoirs.

As a cost saving option for the client, Abyss mobilised it’s own concrete crusher to process the concrete demolished material and use as compactible fill on future projects.
